Smoked Finish Wood Floors

Some types of wood floors can be smoked. This means that the fibres of the wood react with ammonia vapour, which darkens the wooden floor. This reaction causes the wood floor to absorb the colour throughout and means it will keep the usual colour tones.

This process will make the wood seem darker than a painted floor.

The smoking process can be repeated, which will make the floor darker still. Smoking is especially used on oak wood floors.
